My own resolution of that question, inadequate and narrow as it is, has been to ‘live so as to minimize the planetary misery-quotient entailed by my activities, and maximize the potential of joy.’
One of the questions that intrigues and plagues me is the polarity of cooperation or mutualism in biology and immune systems. One promotes the life of others while the other chooses kill or be killed. Both processes exist. How relevant is that to a holistic sustainable human culture?
