This was so helpful. Your teaching skills are phenomenal! I really felt that you explained the Buddhist ideas of momentary consciousness and how they blend into one another giving us the impression of an individual enduring self. Whitehead used his own terms, but he was explaining the same process. This is just one of many points you brought out which I found fascinating. Thank you, thank you. This was great!
I really enjoyed this talk, Matt, and the clarity you brought to the topic of process philosophy through Whitehead. Many concepts and paradoxes I encountered during my Buddhist studies seem reflected in Whitehead's work. For example, your explanation of concrescence reminded me of the Buddhist idea of dependent arising.
I just saw that you will be having a talk with Maitreyabandhu from the Triratna Buddhist Community this coming spring. I practice meditation with this community, so I am really looking forward to hearing what you two will have to share.
Great job Mathew, explaining the Whitehead ontology from physics, to biology, to Astrophysics.
I started with Allen Watts too but I was enthralled with his radio broadcasts in LA during the later 60’s.
I lost the intellectual pursuit because I soon followed Richard Alpert and Kundalini Yoga with Yogi Bhagin.
You’re the first one, I have found, to make sense of Whitehead for me. Even though I study with Bonnie Roy primarily she has not connected the dots like you have.
Concresence and prehension are also well described. I don’t yet grasp the interesting depth of concresence but I at least have a general understanding. All leading to the fact that we are conscious beings is outstanding.
Wow! Whitehead focusing on feeling rather than categories places him in the heartfelt world of one’s senses is to me deep spirituallity.
He was so far ahead of the Cartesian model, if that makes sense, that you are on the right path to reunite his teachings with a renewed modern context. He was way ahead of our understandings.
Cosmic Will is fascinating. Cosmic Will as Divine Eros / Desire is helpful to understand and explains how we can manifest our intentions, I believe.
Perception and causation are the same existing together and this further explains these concepts.

Outstanding understandings. The
